Links with the curriculum

The program is linked to the Alberta Curriculum. We offer CTS classes (10–12) with opportunities for 1, 2 or 3 high school credits related to the Alberta curriculum (Winter Travel, Water Experience, Outdoor Survival Skills, Stewardship, Leadership and more). We also offer Fundamentals in Career and Technologies (5–9) and programs for elementary school.


Requirements are based on school and school board policies. e.g.: chaperone to student ratio.


The Palisades’ programs are available 12 months a year.

Number of participants

Minimum : 20 students is preferable, but could be flexible

Maximum: 40 students.

The Palisades Stewardship Education Centre is an ideal place for each student to learn actively. The program is based on active learning using and while using all senses. Here, we live what we learn.


The Centre


  • Historic ranch located 12 km east of Jasper.
  • Comfortable accommodation for over 65 youth in modern, dormitory styled buildings.
  • Excellent catered meals on site.
  • Modern classrooms and technology.
  • Outdoor learning stations and large grounds area.
  • Fire pits, games area and vast outdoor spaces create a warm, relational space for youth to explore nature, connect with others and learn about themselves in Jasper National Park.
  • Cost for youth/school group participants: $94 covers the cost of programming, equipment, three meals and one overnight for a two-day visit to the centre (longer stays available!).
  • Adult bookings available.


The Method


  • Experiential education; blending mountain recreation with environmental stewardship.
  • Parks Canada Education Team provides hands-on instruction at the centre, and on the numerous beautiful trails and lakes of Jasper National Park.
  • Outdoor gear is provided.
  • Youth develop physical literacy skills as they participate in new
  • activities and gain confidence in the outdoors. Formal Risk Management Protocols.

  • Programs can be tailored to meet group needs and may be delivered in French or English.
