Participants will develop increased knowledge of the experiences of Queer and Trans people which will result in increased empathy for these communities. Each of us operates with baggage that is more or less common to us as human beings. The Queer and/or Trans person operates in this common social environment with additional baggage often composed of traumatic negotiations with this said environment. The workshop will enable the participant to recognize these differences and incorporate this understanding into their future business and social relationships.

Building understanding of the other is the first step in building bridges between individuals, communities and society at large. Through this presentation, where exchanges and interactions are encouraged and expected between the audience and presentors, participants will develop empathy for the Queer and Trans communities through a sharing by two individuals from these communities. The two-hour presentation provides information about the use of language (e.g. current lexicon, pronouns, etc.), the realities faced by members of the Queer and Trans community, and the challenges it faces from within. It is hoped once the program completed, that the participant will be better able to respond to the other in empathy and understanding.
From Acceptance to Inclusiveness and other such presentations have been presented to the ALIGN Association of Community Services, the Alberta College of Social Workers, the Office of the Commissioner of Official Languages, public service staff of the Government of Alberta, the Métis Nation of Alberta and Southminster-Steinhauer United Church amongst others.
