Links with the curriculum

The leadership courses Level 15 - Learn your Leadership is a course developed by the francophone school boards and Francophonie Jeunesse de l’Alberta in order to create opportunities for young Francophones to develop leadership skills. It explores several aspects of leadership, such as communication, teamwork and political leadership. This is a credit course and funded by Alberta Education.

Requirements

 

FJA is responsible for the organization of the leadership course and training of the facilitators. According to school board policies, a chaperone may join the group.

 

There might not have any rental of camps, food, or transportation needed for the courses this year as the course might be given via zoom, depending on the Covid-19 situation.

 

 

Availability

 

The leadership course level 15 is divided into 3 parts :

 

 Stage 1

- North-East, Nord-Ouest, Central, South 

Format of practical training (first week): 

  • A week of leadership training and activities (1h a day - on zoom)
  • A one-on-one meeting with the students to receive their grade towards their five credits for the leadership program. 

Dates of practical training (first week): ONE of the following weeks: November 1-7; November 15-21; November 22-28; November 29th to December 5th 2021. 

 

Stage 2

  • If the current reality maintains itself, the second week of practical training will have the same format as week one, on ONE of the following weeks: February 21-27 février; February 27th to March 6th ; March 7-13; March 14-20 2022

Stage 3 

(as part of  Parlement Jeunesse de l'Alberta)

  • Information on the third practical training session to follow
  • The potential date is april 27th to mai 1st

 

 

 

Number of participants

A maximum of 80 participants per year (20 participants per Stage 1)

Duration

 

Three weeks of one hour a day sessions; a week in November, one in February/March, and one in the beginning of May. The time is chosen within the small group of facility.

To confirm depending on the format of the courses.

 

 

Cost

 

There is no registration fee for participants. The course is funded by Alberta Education.

 

 

Description

Leadership courses are an unforgettable and educational experience for young Francophones. Regardless of life goals, or present situation, everyone can get something valuable out of the course! They will have the occasion to develop a personal leadership, a group leadership and a parliamentary leadership.
