The use of the Twitter constraint (140 characters) leads learners to analyze, exploit and evaluate a large amount of information. In addition to obliging learners to synthesize their reflections, to find the right term and to practice synonymy, twitterature, by its brevity, seems particularly adapted to the language class from the first levels.
The teachers will find in twitterature an excellent opportunity of learning which develops students' linguistic skills, as well as promoting a more festive, playful and stimulating teaching approach.
To participate in the 3rd edition of the Twitterature contest of the Americas, participants must enter via the registration module on the official website.
February 1 to 28, 2017
The Twitterature of the Americas contest is an initiative of the Center for the Francophonie of the Americas, in partnership with Richelieu International and in collaboration with the Institute of Comparative Twitterature. This year, for the third edition, under the theme Conte-moi ta francophonie, primary and secondary school students, for who French is either their mother tongue or their second language, are invited to join this literary and francophone adventure!
What is the "Twittérature" of the Americas Contest?
The contest is a combination of literature and Twitter where participants must express their vision of French and the Francophonie in the Americas by means of twitterature, in 140 characters, including space and tag. It is also an education opportunity since the stylistic and thematic constraints of the competition added to the brevity of a tweet, offer a challenge of concision to be met and beautiful perspectives to be explored in class, between professors and students. This contest is an opportunity to liven up the francophone community of the Americas and deepen the bonds that unite us.
