Description

Using over 30 African drums, Louise Raymond carries the participants through a multicultural discovery which helps stimulate children's intellectual and artistic creativity. Inspired by oral tradition techniques, the drum workshop is based on African rhythms principles.

The workshop's main objective is to allow students to discover and experience West Africa's culture through dancing, drumming, and singing. Children will have an opportunity to express themselves using this beautiful and ancient art form.

Children in grades K-6 love to move. This workshop allows learning by engaging children both mentally and physically. They need to become literate in the language of dance in order to use this natural facility. Dance literacy is an excellent means of communication, self-expression, and response to the needs of others.

Drumming greatly improves students' concentration capabilities by stimulating their cognitive development and reducing their stress. It also contributes to the activation of many vital brain functions and therefore creates, for the student, a sense of self-control and control over their immediate environment. The program winds up with a student lead performance.

The workshop on team building for high school offers many advantages: collaboration, concentration, increased productivity, creativity, communication tools, skills training, stress relief, multiculturalism and harmony among the participants. Through rhythmic creativity and exposure to percussion, students will continue to develop their skills and knowledge, thereby developing a positive self-image and good social relations.
