We offer professional development workshops and cultural accessories. We also have the only French-Canadian culture and dance resource centre in Western Canada.

Links with the curriculum

La Girandole vise plusieurs objectifs d'apprentissage avec sa programmation scolaire et ses ateliers de danse aux écoles. Ces objectifs sont de la maternelle à la douzième année, pour les élèves de la voie francophone, immersion française et français langue seconde. Voici un aperçu des objectifs d'apprentissages pour les matières suivantes:

Français : Culture et identité, expression orale, compréhension orale, vocabulaire et expression.
Beaux-arts: Appréciation des instruments, du tempo, du rythme et des différentes vitesses, les phrases musicales, l'esthétique
Éducation physique: Habiletés en formation, en type de mouvement, en isolation de mouvement, travail en groupe, en petit groupe ou individuellement
Études-sociales : Histoire du Canada, les francophones, la francophonie, les similarités entre premier colons au Canada, les cultures

D'autant plus, les objectifs permettent de développer des compétences et des habiletés suivantes: le bien-être physique, le bien-être psychologiqu, le bien-être émotionnel, et le développement d'une expression ou appréciation culturelle et identitaire.

Requirements

We ask for a dance space (gym, theatre or music room), a sound system that can connect via an AUX chord, one to two microphones.

Availability

From September to June

Number of participants

We have a minimum of 20 students and a maximum of a full school (600 students). We ask that teachers see a maximum of 60 students at a time (3 classes).

Duration

We offer three different formats:

Dance animation (30 to 60 min)

Carnaval (half-day to full two days)

Dance Residency (three to five days)

Animation de danse - From 100$

Carnaval de danse - From 500$

Description

La Girandole is a francophone danse association that specializes in French-Canadian dance and culture. We are proud to offer the chance to French Immersion, FSL and francophone students the chance to participate in an enriching dance experience in French!

We offer three different dance workshop formats:

Dance animation (30 to 60 min) - Ideal to see one class, one time.

Carnaval (half-day to two days) - A chance to get the whole school moving!

Dance Residency (three to five days) - The dance specialists works with the whole school to create a unique performance at the end of the residency.
