These are the benefits of visual arts:

  • Creativity: Arts allow children to develop a sort of creative and innovative spirit. It favours reflection and sharing positive experiences. This creativity and sense of wonder reinforce children’s capacities in other school disciplines.
  • Multiple intelligence: Artistic expression exists in various forms ranging from manual to cerebral that allow for problem solving.
  • Self-discovery: Art enables non-verbal expressions of joy and pain. Expressing one’s self and reinventing one’s self through the practice of visual arts can increase self-esteem and help discover new aspects of one’s personality.
  • Socialization: Children learn to respect each other by playing games. They learn teamwork, empathy and how to express themselves while accepting and respecting differences.
