TOUR OF THE ALBERTA LEGISLATURE BUILDING
Interpretive tours of the Alberta Legislature are offered for student groups of all ages. The tours provide an overview of the history of the province and an insight into the legislative process.
PROGRAMS
Student groups visiting the Legislature will have an opportunity to participate in the following guide-led activities.
MOCK LEGISLATURE
A simulation activity for students and an opportunity to experience what it's like to be part of the parliamentary process. This challenging activity is structured so that every student can participate in the debate. Using replicas of the apparel and the symbolic items actually used in the Legislature, students are guided through the stages of the passage of a bill.
RACE FOR THE RIDINGS
This interactive group activity leads students through the provincial electoral process while reviewing parliamentary procedure at the provincial level.
VIRTUAL VISIT
This Virtual Visit takes you into the Alberta Legislature to explore and learn about this unique building. It is an interactive and immersive online tour experience that provides a realistic three-dimensional environment replicating the layout, scale and features of the Alberta Legislature. In other words, the Virtual Visit allows you to look and move around as if you were inside the building. A fully guided tour option, including multimedia activities that align with Alberta K to 12 Programs of study, further enriches the experience and adds value as a learning and teaching resource.
ORAL QUESTION PERIOD
When the Legislative Assembly is in session, classes are invited to observe Oral Question Period in conjunction with their guided tour. From the gallery, students can watch the Speaker's procession, listen to the deliberations of the Assembly and be introduced to the Members of the Legislative Assembly.
