Workshops can be personalized as much as possible to match the curriculum or the needs and requests of the school.
Workshops are available during the school year.
Up to 25 participants. If more than 25 participants are registered, prices will be adjusted.
Between 1.5 and 6 hours.
Prices for in studio workshops:
1.5 hours: $300
3 hours: $400
6 hours: $550
Prices include artist fees and art supplies. Workshops are based on a group of 25 students.
The price of in classroom workshops will vary.
Taught by professional artists, the workshops are offered at the gallery located in Edmonton (9103 - 95 Avenue). These workshops can be adapted for all grades. Each different grade uses increasingly complex techniques.They can also be taught in your school but additional fees for the artist travelling expenses and material are applicable. The school will also have to provide a computer for the PowerPoint presentation.
VARIOUS
- Photo Portrait in Collage (art, French, science)
Students will prepare several sheets of paper by painting them various shades of black, white and grey with acrylic paints. Then, they will rip off pieces of these papers and assemble the different shapes on top of the photograph, imitating the monochromatic shades visible in the picture.
- Watercolour Self-Portraits (art, French, science, health)
After studying the dimensions of the human face, all of its characteristics and proportions, student will paint a self-portrait using bright, expressive colours.
- Drywall Carving (art, French, science)
Students will see how every object can be made into art. Drywall, the heavy boards used to make wall, is the chosen material of this workshop.
- Book Illustrating (art, French, science, social studies)
Students will write a short story and they will learn how to divide their written work to illustrate it.
- Painting and Rubber Stamping Methods (art, French, science)
The goal of this workshop is to create the background of a painting using stamps. The foreground will use different painting techniques.
- Photo Transfer (art, French, science, social studies, health)
With photo transfer techniques, it is possible to use images that are present in everyday life to create art with well-known symbols.
- Everything But the Kitchen Sink†Printing
(art, French, social studies, science)
Students will be surprised by what can be used for printing. They will use feathers, leaves and other flat object to stamp and produce a variety of motifs.
- Cards for All Occasions (art, French, science, social studies, religion)
Special occasion is an appropriate time for a personalized, hand painted card. The colour theory and its effects will be discussed and applied.
- Illuminated Letters (art, French, social studies, science, religion)
“Enluminures†was how books were decorated before the printing press was invented. Students will start by learning the different techniques and they will then create their own illuminated letters.
- Sculpted Clay Heads (art, French, science)
On a base of wood and newspaper, students will carefully sculpt a head and then use several different tools to mold the clay into the shape of a face.
- Aluminum Foil Relief (art, French, science)
This workshop happens in several steps, and each of these steps shows students a different way to create.
FIBRE ART
- Collage (art, French, science, social studies)
The different patterns, colours and textures of fabric will give a stunning effect to their artwork.
- Handmade Sock Dolls (art, French, science)
Students construct the form of a doll using a bottle, a Styrofoam ball and a sock. The doll is then clothed and decorated using various fabrics, lace, glue and other materials.
- Fabric Collage (art, French, science, social studies)
An excellent project to show students that we can make art using objects we throw away without thinking.
- Funky Banners (art, French, social studies)
Techniques of fabric painting will be demonstrated and explained. Students will then create a banner with their own design.
PAPER CRAFTS
- Paper Making (art, French, science, social studies)
Students will learn how to make paper from recycled material. Each sheet will have a unique composition stemming from the different materials used in making the paper.
- Handmade Wrapping Paper (art, French, science)
This workshop will teach participants several different ways of decorating wrapping paper.
- Monotype Printing (art, French, science, social studies)
Students paint an image on a plaque with watercolours then use basic printing methods to transfer the image to paper. These prints can be made into greeting cards framed.
- Embossed Paper (art, French, science)
Students create a raised image on paper. Pressure is applied to a heavyweight damp paper, transferring the image.
- Starry Dream Catcher (art, French, science, social studies)
Inspired by the aboriginal design, students will create a special form of dream catcher. They emboss an image on hand-made paper to then incorporate into a raffia circle.
