Description

La Chicane albertaine is a provincial competition where popular and progressive music groups compete to win. This contest is open to young Francophone and Francophile artists between 13 and 18 years of age.It is not necessary for participating groups to have a musical training to be eligible.

During the event, participants attend professional development workshops on their art during an outdoor weekend in the mountains. Since 2001, the Chicane has helped hundreds of young people to live a unique musical experience entirely in French. The event is presented at the Goldeye Centre near Nordegg in collaboration with the Alberta Youth Theatre Festival of the UniThéâtre. Group members will have the opportunity to perform before an audience of over 200 people.
