Education guides, learning tools with additional activities and other resources are available to assist students and teachers during the creative process and to supplement classroom learning.
Our teaching guide is designed for Grades 5 to 12, and includes information on the history of women's voting rights in Canada, which is addressed in the Alberta Social Studies curriculum. It invites students to deepen their understanding of gender equality and democracy through research and analysis, topics of discussion, and group activities. It asks students to examine issues of identity, equity, activism and social justice in historical and contemporary contexts.

Suffragists! Make your voice heard! Imagine that you live in Canada before all women had the right to vote. You are outraged by the inequality, and you are going to be heard! Historica Canada invites Canadians aged 10 to 29 to join our nation-wide contest and create a written or artistic submission reflecting the history of women’s suffrage in Canada. Win up to $500 in gifts cards, and have your work featured online
ART SUBMISSION
For this contest, your challenge is to travel back in time to create a poster for the Canadian women’s suffrage movement.Drawing inspiration from other suffrage imagery and propaganda from the early twentieth century, design a poster that promotes political equality or advertises an event held by Canadian suffragists.
WRITING SUBMISSION
Either hand-write or type a Letter to the Editor that would have appeared in a national or local newspaper at the time, calling for democratic representation in Canada. Your letter should express your opinion or point of view about a specific issue or event.
