Prices include artist fees and art supplies. Workshops are based on a group of 25 students. 

The price of in classroom workshops will vary.

Description

Taught by professional artists, the workshops are offered at the community studio located in Edmonton (9103 - 95 Avenue). These workshops can be taught in your school but additional fees for the artist travelling expenses and material are applicable. The school will also have to provide a computer for the PowerPoint presentation.

- Christmas Motifs III (art, French, religion, science)
In this workshop, students will concentrate on form and texture. The creation of a 3D Christmas figurine while concentrating on these concepts will deepen the students' understanding of sculpting techniques.

- Plaques for Parents (art, French, science, health)
Students will decide on a favorite activity that involves the celebrated parent and they will use clay to sculpt a plaque depicting this activity.

- Mother’s or Father’s Day Portrait (art, French, social studies)
Students will explore multimedia arts while they transform a photo into a Pop Art collage.

- Easter Eggs I (art, French, religion, science, social studies)
Students will learn how to use kiskas, a tool for melting wax and tracing designs on eggs. Participants create a simple version the Ukrainian inspired Easter egg.

- Gargoyles (art, French, social studies, religion)
Gargoyles are found everywhere, a symbol of protection and superstition. Students will learn about the art of gargoyles and the beliefs related to them, but also how to work with recycled materials.

- Japanese Arts (art, French, science, social studies)
Students will use linoleum and cutting tools to carve a Japanese design. Then they will print their works in black or blue ink.

- Rice Paper Art in the Style of Shigiri-e (art, French, social studies)
Creation of a design using a half collage, half watercolour technique. Many small pieces of coloured rice paper are used to create a beautiful image.

- Mixed Media on a Medieval Theme
(art, French, science, social studies)
Techniques of collage with tissue paper and of acrylic painting will be taught. Students will interpret different medieval themes using a minimum of two mediums.

- North American Aboriginal Masks (art, French, science, social studies)
Fabrication of traditional masks characterized by swift line patterns and various forms, with construction paper and other mediums.

- Totems (art, French, science, social studies)
Students will be shown the significance of the symbols used by Aboriginal communities. They will then choose appropriate figures for their own personal totems.

- Working with Pastel (art, French, science)
Students will learn about composition and light. They will experiment with different methods to render texture in their artwork, using pastels.

- Watercolours II (art, French, science, social studies)
Color theory and the use of special effects will enable to render a more realistic still life.
